Care Designed to Support
Comfort, Function, and Daily Life

At Central Texas TMJ Facial Pain & Sleep Center, we tailor non-surgical treatment plans to each patient’s needs. Our approach emphasizes thoughtful evaluation, personalized management strategies, and ongoing monitoring to help reduce pain, improve comfort, and support better function and quality of life.

Botulinum Toxin (Botox) for Headache and Facial Pain Management

Botulinum toxin may be used as part of a broader management plan for certain headache conditions, TMJ disorders, oromandibular dystonias, and select facial pain cases. It is used to reduce muscle strain and support symptom control over time, not as a permanent fix.

Nerve Blocks and Trigger Point Injections

Nerve blocks and trigger point injections may be considered when specific nerves or tight muscle bands are contributing to persistent pain. These treatments are used selectively to calm irritated pathways, reduce pain amplification, and create an opportunity for other conservative strategies to work more effectively as part of a comprehensive plan.

SPG (Sphenopalatine Ganglion) Blocks

SPG blocks may be used in select headache and facial pain presentations where autonomic or nerve-related pathways are involved. This approach focuses on temporarily interrupting pain signaling to better understand symptom patterns and support short-term relief while longer-term management strategies are refined.

Joint Injections

Joint injections may be considered when inflammation or degenerative changes within the jaw joint contribute to persistent pain or limited function. These injections are used selectively to reduce irritation, support smoother joint movement, and create a more stable environment for ongoing, conservative management.

Oral Appliance Therapy

Oral appliances may be recommended for patients whose symptoms are influenced by jaw position, clenching, airway stability, or sleep-related factors. Custom devices are designed to support the jaw, reduce strain on muscles and joints, and improve comfort over time while being monitored and adjusted as needed.

Medication Management

Medication management may be used to help regulate pain signaling, reduce nerve sensitivity, or stabilize headache patterns when appropriate. Prescriptions are selected carefully based on symptoms, medical history, and response over time, and are typically used as part of a broader, individualized care plan rather than a standalone solution.
